To the Yale Community:

We write to call your attention to an informational video that outlines how to respond to an active shooting situation on campus. The video is available on the Emergency Management website and is available to the entire Yale community. We hope this is something that never happens at Yale, but no place is immune, as events in recent days and weeks make tragically clear. While aspects of the video may be disturbing, watching it and preparing both mentally and logistically can increase the possibility of survival if the unthinkable were to occur. We encourage you to view the video and follow the advice about being aware of your surroundings and having a plan so you are prepared to respond in case of an emergency.

You may also visit http://emergency.yale.edu for more information about campus and personal preparedness. This is the page where the university posts reports and updates related to campus emergencies, severe winter weather, and similar events.

Sincerely,

Ronnell Higgins, Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police
Maria Bouffard, Director of Emergency Management
